Introducing the band : Burning Cheerleaders

Sweat, Rust, and Broken Strings

You can smell Leiden before you even hear it—that specific damp concrete and canal-water mix hanging in the air around the industrial zones. But once you hit the door of the bunker where Burning Cheerleaders practice, the smell changes to hot tubes, stale coffee, and ozone.

People always get confused when we tell them what it sounds like. Metal, industrial, and blues? Yeah. Sounds like a mess on paper, right?

Like, picture a heavy, grinding Ministry-style beat punching through a wall of cold steel and distortion, all machinery and repetitive, factory-floor dread. But instead of some sterile synth solo over top, Dave's leaning over a beat-up Epiphone with a metal slide, pulling out these miserable, weeping, down-tuned Robert Johnson bends that sound like they crawled straight out of a Mississippi swamp and got run over by a freight train.

Jeroen doesn't sing, either. He barks and howls into a mic wrapped in duct tape, looking like he hasn't slept since the last local elections.

It’s heavy, it’s ugly, and it swings like a wrecking ball hitting a tin shed. That’s just how things sound when you write songs in the shadow of a grey Dutch canal while listening to too many old Delta records on a blown-out cassette player.

UENK - the man behind the music

You’ve got UENK, the guy who wrote The Verdict of 1937, not just handing over a manuscript and walking away. No, he literally sat down, penned the raw, jagged guitar riffs, wrote the lyrics, and brought those core ideas to Burning Cheerleaders in Leiden.

The band took that blueprint and amplified it, mashing up heavy metal, cold industrial machinery, and weeping Delta blues. But here's the kicker: UENK didn't just stop at writing the parts. He stepped straight into the control room and produced the whole thing himself.

So instead of some over-produced, sterile studio album, what you get sounds like an industrial machine grinding down a blues record inside a damp Dutch bunker. It's raw, heavy, and sounds exactly like the dark world of the book brought to life.

Coppermill Recordings

Right out in Leiden, away from the shiny corporate studios and the mainstream pop assembly lines, you’ve got Coppermill Recordings.

This place is basically the underground hub for everyone doing something genuinely weird, heavy, or completely out-of-the-box. While other labels are chasing algorithms, Coppermill is all about raw originality and creative freedom. It’s the home turf for alternative bands and solo artists who don't fit into a neat little box, the kind of place where an industrial-metal-meets-Delta-blues project like Burning Cheerleaders or a dark historical concept like UENK’s work actually finds a roof over its head.

No polish, no filters: just pure, unfiltered Leiden grit and creativity.

The Verdict of 1937

History is a lie. The Department is here to enforce it.

In a perfect future built on redacted history, elite agents are sent to 1937 to “correct” the timeline by eliminating Adolf Hitler. But these aren't heroes; they are modern executioners who relish the power of being judge, jury, and sadist.

As they infiltrate the Reich Chancellery, they prepare to commit atrocities in the name of bureaucracy. But they are about to learn a terrifying truth: Evil does not end when you erase a monster; it ends when you stop enjoying the power that made you his judge.

The agents think the mission is a simple case of historical maintenance, but as they draw their weapons, they realise they aren't the only ones playing God with the past.

What happens when the people "correcting" history are darker than the monsters they are sent to kill?
